Elaine Wethington, BCTR associate director and professor of human development and of sociology, is quoted about social isolation in seniors for an article about a tight-knit group of seniors living in Washington Heights in a recent article in the New York Times. Wethington discusses the way seniors can find themselves alone as family and friends die and that those who are not already connected to a network of friends can find it difficult to form them in later life.
