Rachel Dunifon becomes a BCTR Associate Director

Rachel Dunifon becomes a BCTR Associate DirectorRachel Dunifon, Associate Professor and Department Extension Leader in PAM, is joining the BCTR as an Associate Director. Rachel was part of the planning committee for the BCTR. In addition to being on the leadership team for the center, she will integrate her translational research in the parenting area into the BCTR and will help the center develop its agendas around the linkages between research and policy.

Rachel received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in 1999 and joined the department of Policy Analysis and Management in 2001, after spending two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan's Poverty Research and Training Center. Her research focuses on child and family policy. Rachel was awarded a 5-year grant from the William T. Grant Foundation's Scholar's program to study the role of grandparents in the lives of youth. Rachel was also awarded an R01 grant from the Eunice Kennedy Schriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to study the influence on children of maternal employment patterns.

Rachel's Extension work is also in the area of child and family policy. She heads the Parenting in Context Project, which provides a context for researchers and educators working in the area of parenting education to collaborate and share ideas.
